Man Charged In Setauket Political Rally Assault: Police

A man ripped a sign out of a 64-year-old man's hand before punching and shoving him at a political rally earlier in September, police say.

SETAUKET, NY — The man who Suffolk police said attacked a man at a political rally in Setauket earlier this month was arrested Monday.

Noah Milstein, 23, of Massapequa Park, was at a political rally at the intersection of North Country Road and Route 25A at 12:15 p.m. Sept. 12 when he ripped a sign out of the hands of Teddy Taranowicz, police said. Milstein followed Taranowicz, 64, of Port Jefferson Station, to his car, punched him and pushed him to the ground before leaving the rally, police said.

Taranowicz suffered minor injuires and brought himself to Northport VA Medical Center, police said.

Milstein was charged with third-degree assault. He is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Oct. 16.
