Congratulations Natalie Walsh, Julia Ingemi, Anthony Caiazza, and Gabriella Hirsch
CENTEREACH, NEW YORK (MARCH 2021)—The Middle Country Central School District (MCCSD) is pleased to announce its students of the month for March: Natalie Walsh, Centereach High School (CHS); Julia Ingemi, Newfield High School (NHS); Anthony Caiazza, Selden Middle School (SMS); and Gabriella Hirsch, Dawnwood Middle School (DMS).
“I am thrilled to recognize our students of the month for March. It is very apparent through their peers and teachers alike that Natalie, Julia, Anthony and Gabriella are valued members of their respective classes and buildings,” said Dr. Roberta Gerold, Superintendent of Middle Country Central School District. “These four distinguished students serve as models and continue to offer peers assistance coupled with encouragement. I would like to thank Natalie, Julia, Anthony and Gabriella for being tremendous assets to the Middle Country Central School District.”
Centereach High School senior Natalie Walsh exemplifies the unique quality to lead others on a daily basis, setting her apart from her peers. While challenging herself with a rigorous course load of nine Advanced Placement (AP) courses and 4 college classes, Natalie has remained steadfast in her academics and extracurricular activities. Natalie, currently ranked 4th in CHS’s graduating class, is a recipient of the AP Scholar distinction; a National Merit Scholarship Finalists; and a member of the Science Olympiad team, National Honor Society, Spanish Honor Society, Tri-M Honor Society, and Chamber Orchestra. As for athletics, Natalie was selected to participate on the All-County tournament team for volleyball.

Natalie is uncertain about where she will take her talents in the fall. So far, she has been accepted into the honors program at Northeastern University, Delaware University, the University of Florida, and University of Connecticut. Natalie will wait to hear from the remainder of schools she’s applied to before making a final decision.
Julia Ingemi, senior at Newfield High School, is widely recognized in the building as a supreme role model for her peers, not only from a talent standpoint but a humanistic one. Admired by those around her for her strong work ethic, Julia currently maintains a 98.3913 weighted Grade Point Average (GPA) and has the potential to graduate in June with close to 30 college credits. Julia takes on leadership roles in several capacities at Newfield: NHS Orchestra President, secretary of the Thespian Honor Society, treasurer of the Tri-M Honor Society, and a member of the National Honor Society. Julia was selected as an All-State Alternate Musician and an All-County Musician for the NYSCAME and LISFA Orchestras. She is also a two-time title winner for Island Idol, a Middle Country musical competition.

In the fall, Julia will be attending the Crane School of Music and majoring in music education and aspires to return to Newfield as a co-teacher with Mr. Martinez.
Selden Middle School’s sixth grade student Anthony Caiazza is inclusive of all students, both academically and socially. Anthony takes on leadership in all facets of his life, all while displaying citizenship to those around him and granting credit to peers when it’s due. His enthusiasm extends beyond the classroom where he is a member of student government, drama production, Youth for Humanity, vocal ensemble, and after school chorus. Anthony hopes to join the cross country and track teams next year, with an ultimate goal to compete in an Ironman race.
Gabriella (Ella) Hirsch, eighth grader at Dawnwood Middle School, is an individual who knows what she wants and is determined to achieve it, qualities proven through her academic and extracurricular accomplishments. Ella currently maintains a 98.57 GPA and is a member of the National Honor Society; and DMS’s Renaissance, technology and plant clubs. Ella hopes to become a middle school science teacher later on in life.
