Long Island Weather: Blizzard Watch Issued Ahead Of Monster Storm
The National Weather Service has released its first official snowfall total maps and well, you aren't going anywhere Tuesday.

The National Weather Service has issued a blizzard watch for Long Island as a powerful storm gets set to wallop the region. The blizzard watch, issued when there is the potential for falling and blowing snow with strong winds and extremely poor visibilities, will be in effect from midnight Monday until midnight Tuesday.
The NWS has also released its first official snowfall total maps (see them below) for the storm and they show some staggering numbers. The island is expected to see 12-18 inches of snow, with a "most likely" total of 17 inches. There's about a 40 percent chance of more than a foot of snow.

Heavy snow and wind gusts up to 50 mph Tuesday may lead to whiteout conditions, making travel very dangerous, the NWS says. There's also the potential for power outages.

There is still some uncertainty as to the track of the storm and a farther west track could bring some mixed precipitation or rain to coastal areas, the NWS says.
