Motorcyclist Dies In Centereach Collision

The motorcyclist crashed into a Honda driver who was turning into a driveway on Monday afternoon, police say.

CENTEREACH, NY — A Centereach motorcyclist was involved in a fatal crash in his hometown on Monday afternoon, Suffolk police said.

James Vollert, 55, was operating his 1972 Honda Motorcycle north on Oxhead Road when he crashed into a southbound 2016 Honda SUV that was making a left-hand turn into a driveway around 5:25 p.m., police said.

Vollert was pronounced dead at Stony Brook University Hospital.

The Honda driver, Robert Lisa, 45, of Coram, was not injured, police said.

Both vehicles were impounded for safety checks.
