NEW Graphic Novels Collection in Children's Dept.

The Children's Department at Emma Clark Library to house graphic novels.

Look up at the Library. Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No, it’s…graphic novels!

Coming in June – just in time for Summer Reading – the Children’s Department at Emma Clark Library will house graphic novels. There will be about 200 new novels to start with titles such as Avengers, Big Nate, Bone, Dorothy and the Wizard of Oz, My Little Pony, Scooby Doo, Sports Illustrated, and Star Wars.

Graphic novels, or comic books, appeal to many reluctant readers because of the way they combine text with visual representation. They teach children how to interpret images, which is especially important in our media world. They also encourage reading for enjoyment and pleasure.
