Nurses From Upstate NY Come To Stony Brook Hospital
22 nurses from Syracuse are heading to LI to assist during the coronavirus pandemic.

STONY BROOK, NY — A week after Governor Andrew Cuomo pleaded for medical professionals to come to New York City and Long Island to help out during the apex of the coronavirus pandemic, some volunteers are on the way.
The County Executive of Onondaga County announced Wednesday that 22 nurses from Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse will travel to Stony Brook University Hospital to assist in treating COVID-19 patients.
Chief Executive Officer at Upstate, Dr. Robert Corona, noted how Stony Brook is building a 1,000-bed hospital on the football fieldand calling for staffing help as they become overwhelmed with positive cases.

"They need help. We're able to help. We're on our way," Emery House, a nurse at Upstate University Hospital, told CNY Central News.
According to Newsday, Stony Brook saw 271 patients hospitalized with coronavirus on April 5.
