Pedestrian Killed In Selden Car Crash: Police

A man, 41, was walking in the road on Route 25 when he was hit by a Jeep late Wednesday, police say.

SELDEN, NY — A pedestrian was killed in a car crash in Selden late Wednesday night, Suffolk police said.

A 41-year-old man was walking in the roadway on Route 25, west of Highview Drive, when he was hit by an eastbound 2004 Jeep around 11:35 p.m., police said. The pedestrian, whose name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin, was rushed to Stony Brook University Hospital where he was pronounced dead, police said.

The driver of the Jeep, a 19-year-old man from Selden, was not injured.

The Jeep was impounded for a safety check. Detectives are asking anyone with information about the crash to call the Sixth Squad at 631-854-8652.
