Return of Cold Air May Pave Way For 'Significant' Snow, Ice
The first chance of accumulating snow will come next Tuesday. See the latest forecast.

Temperatures were back in the 50s again Friday, but you will need that winter coat once again come Saturday. High daily temperatures will be in the 30s for the next several days and forecasters are watching a storm system that has the potential to drop accumulating snow on the island next week.
There's a chance of some light snow Sunday night, but nothing is expected to accumulate. There's only about one-in-10 chance of more than an inch of snow, the National Weather Service said.
Tuesday is the day to keep an eye on. It's early, but the island could see a few inches of snow before it turns over to rain Tuesday afternoon, the NWS said.

"However, just a 1-2 hour change in timing could result in barely anything to as much as 3 to 5 inches," the weather service said in a forecast discussion Friday night. "Bottom line here is that it is much too early to be specific with those details, but rather understand the potential."
Tuesday's storm may just be an appetizer for more potent winter weather.

"The return of cold air and the way it spreads out and becomes wedged in part of the Northeast due to progressively stronger areas of high pressure may pave the way for significant ice and snow in the coming weeks," AccuWeather Lead Long-Range Meteorologist Paul Pastelok said.
