Roads Mended in East Setauket

Both Arrowhead Lane and portions of Old Town Road were recently repaved and restriped by the Brookhaven Highway Department.

Two separate portions of Old Town Road were repaved and restriped, including the northern portion of road stretching from Gnarled Hollow Rd. to Gables Blvd. and a southern portion from Elm St. to New York State Route 347. Bike lanes were also added along either side of the road from Sheep Pasture Rd. to Route 347.

“Old Town Road is one of the most traveled roadways in Brookhaven,” said Daniel P. Losquadro, Superintendent of Highways. “Through the implementation of night paving, we were able to complete these portions of Old Town Road much quicker, while making it much more convenient for motorists.”

Crews also repaved and restriped Arrowhead Ln. from Old Town Rd. to the cul-de-sac near the entrance of Arrowhead Elementary School. As part of a community involvement project, bike lanes were implemented along the eastern and western sides of the roadway.

“The road came out awesome,” said Bill Doherty, a member of the Setauket Fire Department. “The crews worked at a great pace to complete the job as quickly as possible.”

“Improving the condition of these roads greatly benefits the community,” Superintendent Losquadro added. “The Setauket Fire Department, Arrowhead Elementary School and Ward Melville High School are all located directly off of these roadways.”
