Serial Suffolk Home Burglar, Trespasser, Arrested: Police

At least eight incidents were reported over 11 months, and the man twice confronted residents, police said.

SELDEN, NY — A man who Suffolk police said burglarized several properties in Suffolk County over 11 months was arrested on Monday.

Tyamie Bell, 39, of Selden, entered yards or homes in Coram, Medford, Middle Island and Selden between October 2019 and September 2020, police said. Twice, Bell confronted residents, police said.

Bell was charged with two counts of second-degree burglary in connection with the following incidents, police said:

  • Entering a home and confronting a resident on Gordon Avenue in Medford on Sept. 16.
  • Entering a home and confronting a resident on Norfleet Lane in Coram on July 20.

He was charged with two counts of second-degree criminal trespass in connection with the following incidents, police said:

  • Entering a home on Woodlawn Avenue in Selden on Sept. 12.
  • Entering a home on Carr Lane in Medford on Nov. 10, 2019.

He was charged with four counts of third-degree criminal trespass in connection with the following incidents, police said:

  • Entering a yard on Cedarhurst Avenue in Selden on Sept. 10.
  • Entering a yard on Cedarhurst Avenue in Selden on Sept. 14.
  • Entering a home on Carr Lane in Coram on Oct. 28, 2019.
  • Entering a home on Gray Avenue in Middle Island on Aug. 24.

Bell was also charged with second-degree possession of a forged instrument. He is scheduled for arraignment at First District Court in Central Islip on Tuesday.
