National Weather Service warns of patchy black ice into Friday morning.
The National Weather Service has issued the following special weather statement for Long Island:
PATCHY BLACK ICE IS POSSIBLE UNTIL 10 AM FRIDAY MORNING. AS TEMPERATURES FALL BELOW 32 DEGREES...MELTED SNOW AND ICE WILL REFREEZE ...ESPECIALLY IN LOW LYING POOR DRAINAGE AREAS. UNTREATED ROADS AND SIDEWALKS MAY BE SLICK AND ICY. MOTORISTS AND PEDESTRIANS SHOULD EXERCISE CAUTION AS TRAVEL MAY BE SLIPPERY IN SPOTS.
