Stony Brook University Hosts 2015 America East Cross Country Championships

Stony Brook's Christina Melian wins the women's 5K title, with the SBU men and women's teams placing second and third, respectively

Stony Brook’s Christina Melian won the women’s 5K individual title at the 2015 America East Cross Country Championships on Saturday, with a time of 17:53.24.

The men’s title went to UMBC’s Hassan Omar who won the men’s 8K race in 24:43.21.

The cross-country championships were hosted by Stony Brook University, with the participation of Albany, Binghamton, Hartford, New Hampshire, Maine, UMBC, UMass Lowell and Vermont.

UMass Lowell captured the overall men’s team title while Stony Brook placed second.

The overall women’s team title went to New Hampshire, with the Stony Brook women placing third.
