Stony Brook Women's Basketball Makes 1st NCAA DI Tournament
The Seawolves, a No. 14 seed, are slated to square off against No. 3 Arizona next Monday.

STONY BROOK, NY — The Stony Brook University women's basketball team is headed to its first NCAA Division I Women's Basketball tournament.
The Seawolves, the No. 14 seed of the tournament's Mercado Region bracket, are slated to square off with the No. 3-seeded Arizona Wildcats at 2 p.m. Monday in San Antonio, Texas.

The Seawolves ended the season with a 15-5 record, going 11-3 in the America East Conference. The team rattled off win streaks of six and four to put it in a position to reach its first national tournament.

The team was led in points by junior guards Asiah Dingle and Anastasia Warren, who each scored 222 this season. Dingle averaged 11.7 points per game while Warren averaged 11.1. Senior forward India Pagan led the squad with 104 total rebounds, while senior guard/forward Hailey Zeise led with 20 blocks. Dingle also led her team with 34 steals, while Warren hit a team-leading 28 three-pointers.

To reach the NCAA bracket, the Seawolves first emerged from the America East Tournament. The team defeated the University of Massachusetts Lowell 75-55 on homecourt before traveling to enemy territory to defeat Maine 64-60.
