Stony Brook Women's Basketball Team Falls To Arizona
It was the first time the university's women's squad made the NCAA Tournament. The Seawolves were bounced by the Wildcats 79-44.

SAN ANTONIO, TX — The Stony Brook University women's basketball team was bounced from the NCAA Division I Tournament after losing to the Arizona Wildcats 79-44 on Monday.
The Seawolves entered as a 14-seed in the tournament's Mercado Region bracket and took on the No. 3-seeded Wildcats in San Antonio, Texas. While Stony Brook fell, it still marked the inaugural NCAA Tournament berth in the university's women's basketball history.
"We’re going to remember and reflect upon this season because we made history," head coach Caroline McCombs told reporters after the game. "This is for all the women that have worn a Stony Brook jersey before."

The Wildcats outscored the Seawolves 47-20 in the first half, and the lead proved to be insurmountable.
Stony Brook ended the season with a 15-6 record. The team emerged from the America East Tournament to reach the NCAA bracket, defeating the University of Massachusetts Lowell 75-55 on homecourt before traveling to enemy territory to defeat Maine 64-60. Those two wins set up Monday's game with Arizona.
