Take Your Child to the Library Day
Emma Clark Library is celebrating on Wednesday, Feb. 17 during Winter Recess. Join us!

“Take Your Child to the Library Day” is an initiative that started a few years ago for the month of February and has since spread nationwide. Emma Clark Library is celebrating on Wednesday, February 17 when the kids are off from school for Winter Break – the perfect time to raise awareness about the importance of libraries. Between 1:00 – 3:00 p.m., the library will offer face painting, temporary tattoos, balloon sculpting, crafts, and of course, all of the wonderful services and resources at the library!
Why is it so vital for children to visit the library? The library is a symbol of lifelong learning and that lesson starts right from infancy. Listed here are just a few of the (free!) benefits of bringing your children to the library:
- Books, Audio Books, and Read-a-longs – promote literacy, as well as a lifetime of reading for pleasure and learning
- Computers, Tablets, and Free Wifi – provide access to technology and online resources to develop digital literacy skills regardless of family income
- Movies and Music – additional opportunities for both family entertainment and education
- Storytimes and performances – interactive and hands-on learning experiences
- Toys & Puzzles – encourage fine motor skills, gross motor skills, coordination, and more
While the library is essential to a child’s growth and development, kids are also having fun while participating in these activities alongside their peers – right here in their own community!

There is no need to register for “Take Your Child to the Library Day”, and all families are welcome.
Additionally, on February 17, each new library card sign-up will be entered in a special raffle. No patron is ever too young for a library card! Patrons may obtain one from birth and immediately start enjoying the library’s resources, such as the “Time for Baby” program.
