Unique kid's program at The Long Island Museum
Book discussion with Emma Clark Librarians and an opportunity to tour parts of the museum.

Emma Clark Library and The Long Island Museum in Stony Brook have partnered for a unique program (grades 4 – 6 and their families), which includes a book discussion and an opportunity to tour parts of the museum. This collaborative book club uses the museum to enhance book discussions – it’s a chance to share a one-of-a-kind reading experience, and we’re thrilled to offer it to Three Village.
Sunday, April 19, 4:00 - 5:30pm
Worth by A. LaFaye in conjunction with the exhibit American Horizons, East to West: Masterworks of Landscape Painting and Photography. A boy’s life on a farm in the 1800’s is serious work. When 11-year-old Nate is hurt in a farming accident and is no longer able to work, Nate’s father decides to adopt an orphan from New York. John Worth, who lost his parents in a fire, is brought to Nebraska from New York City on the Orphan Train. He struggles to learn the ways of farming while Nate, used to working in the fields, is sent to school and struggles with his new role as student in a class of younger, more educated students. Both boys feel useless and unloved. Can they work together and learn the value of each other’s friendship?
