Ward Melville Lacrosse Wins 4th Straight County Title
BREAKING: The Patriots battled back from three goals down with minutes to play before claiming yet another county championship in overtime.

LAKE RONKONKOMA, NY – A month ago, the Ward Melville boys lacrosse team lost to Smithtown West 11-8. And on Thursday, the Patriots were down three goals again, 9-6, to the Bulls with four minutes to play in the Suffolk County Class A championship game at Sachem High School North in Lake Ronkonkoma.
But the Patriots proved that four minutes is an eternity when you are the back-to-back defending state champions. Ward Melville tied up the game with 23 seconds left to play with a goal off the stick of Steven Germain. And it was pass from Germain that set up Jack Gillen for the game-winner in overtime, sealing a fourth straight county title for the Patriots.
