Cops: Brett Knight to Face Murder Charges in Death of Setauket Man
The man police said shot and killed Setauket's Ross Reisner will be arraigned on murder and harassment charges on Friday, according to the Suffolk County police.

Brett C. Knight will be arraigned at the First District Court in Central Islip and charged with second-degree murder, a felony.

Sidewalk Work on Nicolls to Wrap Next Week
The ongoing project to install sidewalks along Nicolls Road near the Route 25A intersection should finish some time next week, according to Suffolk County Legislator Kara Hahn, who has trumpeted the project.

Sidewalks, curbs and guard rails are being added from the Sheep Pasture Road/North Entrance Road intersection to where the road ends at 25A.

New Nail Spa Opens in Setauket
The latest nail spa to enter the Three Village market has opened in Setauket, right next to Bagel Express at 15-3 Bennetts Road.

Nina Nail and Day Spa opened this week, and workers were canvassing the area handing out coupons for different services.

The spa opens in the former home of Hudson Board Room, which opened in the summer of 2010 but closed in 2011 when its owner decided to take the business online. 

Stony Brook University Launches Food Waste Recycling Program
With the cost of living continuing to skyrocket, Stony Brook University is making its first move to convert food waste into electricity through a new waste processing plant. The $50 million project was announced by Long Island Compost as a way to convert the amount of food waste per year into something that could be used more proactively.

Three Village Swim Club alum Kim Scalzo will be the next swim team coach at St. Joseph's College in Patchogue, the school announced Wednesday.

Scalzo was with the swim club for eight years, qualifying for the Junior Olympics as well as the Empire State Games during her tenure there. Prior to that she was a varsity swimmer at Ward Melville High School in Setauket.

Staples Closes in Lake Grove
The Staples in Lake Grove has closed, nearly a year and a half after the office supplies chain opened a newer storefront just a mile away in Stony Brook.

As of Monday, workers were taking down the signs at the former DSW plaza storefront, and signs saying the store was closed covered most of the windows.
