Dance and Discover at LEGOLAND Discovery Center this weekend!

Waverly here, your Patch NYC Kids' Mayor, with a really fun event for anyone who loves dancing and loves LEGOs, too...isn't that everyone?? Famed 13-year-old twin kid DJs Amira & Kayla will be offering a series of pop-up dance parties at the LEGOLAND Discovery Centers of Westchester (this Saturday!), (also Boston March 30th and Philadelphia April 6th in case you're around there). The powerhouse duo have a celeb following (Whoopi Goldberg and Rhianna are fans) and have pumped up crowds on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, at New York Fashion Week, Jay Z's 40/40 Club the Apollo Theater and more....I love when kids do things that usually only grownups do, so of course I'm excited to hear about this event and wanted to share the news. How did you get into DJ’ing at such a young age?

A: Our dad would play music around the house when we were younger. He was a former music producer who could DJ. My sister and I liked to fool around with his music equipment like they were our toys. He saw we had an interest in music and he started to teach us the basics of deejaying.

What is your favorite song to play to get people in the mood to party?

K: We always like to read the room to see what the type of music best fits the audience we are playing for.You have to play the hit records that everyone knows and dances to. We also love to play classic old school records that have been popular for generations.

A: It's going to be fun day for the entire family with music, dancing, photo ops, and much more. In between our dance parties, families can check out the Lego Movie 2 Themed activities at the Discovery Center. We can't wait to try the area where you create your own stop motion films with Mini-figures!
