LEGOLAND® New York Raises More Than $30,000 for Charity!
Money Will Help Create Merlin's Magic Spaces, Including One at HONOR

Waverly here, your Patch NYC News Kids' Mayor!
By now you probably know that LEGOLAND® NY is opening up in Goshen NY in 2020 - so exciting, I know! But I bet you don't know that they do way more than build super fun theme parks!
Last week, LEGOLAND New York Resort raised more than $30,000 in its second annual gala, “An Evening to Treasure.” The total was three times that of LEGOLAND New York’s first gala in 2018.
All proceeds from the pirate-themed event will benefit Merlin’s Magic Wand, a 501(c)(3) charity that makes fun accessible to children facing illness, disability or adversity around the world. The money will help support the creation of Merlin’s Magic Spaces, such as the one being created at HONOR in Middletown, New York.

In that project, which is expected to be complete in fall 2019, LEGOLAND New York Resort and its construction partners will transform a conference room into a DUPLO® play area and LEGO movie theater. Here is a picture of what that will look like:

“We have a great relationship with HONOR and we’re proud to support them in their mission to help children and families throughout Orange County and the Hudson Valley,” said LEGOLAND New York Director of Development Phil Royle.

“When children are unable to experience the fun of a Merlin attraction because of life circumstances, Merlin’s Magic Wand brings the fun to them,” said Merlin’s Magic Wand Operations Manager USA Tracie Hogencamp. “We have also helped more than half a million children experience Magical Days Out at Merlin attractions around the world.”
Saturday’s gala was made possible with the participation of student volunteers from Monroe-Woodbury High School, past and present students from Minisink Valley High School, and alumni from the BOCES Including Communities program. It's so cool how everyone worked together for a great cause!
LEGOLAND New York Resort will be the largest LEGOLAND theme park Merlin Entertainments has ever built, with more than 50 rides, shows and attractions on 150 acres. I can't wait to report on it and experience it, and I know YOU can't wait either so I'll keep you posted! For more info, check out Legoland.com/new-york
