34 Restaurants That Give You A Reason To Dine On The UWS: Eater
The popular food website Eater recently published a list of 34 of the best restaurants open right now on the Upper West Side.
UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — The Upper West Side isn't exactly known across the city for its restaurants, but a food critic from Eater NY just picked out 34 restaurants in the neighborhood that should give you a reason to dine on the UWS.
Critic Robert Sietsema, along with the Eater staff, recently published "34 Reasons to Dine on the Upper West Side Now."
"At the start of this century, it was commonplace to say there were no good restaurants on the Upper West Side," Sietsema wrote in the article. "It was wrong then and is even more wrong now, as new places open up in spite of the pandemic."

The restaurants chosen range from Upper West Side institutions such as Gray's Papaya and Amsterdam Ale House to new arrivals Banh Vietnamese Shop House and Pastrami Queen.
However, like all NYC neighborhoods, the pandemic has still had a devastating effect on the Upper West Side's restaurant scene. More than a third, 12 of the 35 UWS restaurants on the same list last year, have closed since it was published at the beginning of 2020.
