Cyclist Hit And Killed By USPS Truck On The UWS: Police

Police told Patch that a 71-year-old man was hit and killed by the truck around 5:45 p.m. on West 86th Street and Central Park West.

UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — A 71-year-old cyclist was hit and killed around 5:35 p.m. by a United States Postal Service truck Tuesday evening on the Upper West Side, a police spokesperson told Patch.

The man was hit by the truck as it attempted to take a right turn off West 86th Street and Central Park West, according to police.

The 71-year-old was transported to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead a short time later, a police spokesperson said.
