Best Spots to See Performance Art- Events This Week

These venues are the most historic in NYC- and they all reside in the Upper West Side. Check out the must-see performances in these spots.

We're approaching the colder part of late Autumn- which ensues a lot of keeping warm inside, but if you're a fan of the performance art- musicals, plays, dancing, jazz, orchestras and operas- this is for you.

The top, most historic venues for performance art reside in the Upper West Side of Manhattan. I firstly recommend the Beacon Theatre, which is decorated in Art Deco built in 1929- if the design or acoustics don't win you over, the events will. On the 30th- Wednesday night, Pink Martini- performs a multilingual masterpiece with its sympathy orchestral background on Wednesday- Oct. 30th. Get tickets here.

Next up- is the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts- built in 1956 A staple in the Upper West Side for standing-ovation performances. I recommend seeing The Great Society- written by Robert Schenkkan with an Emmy, Tony and Olivier awarded cast. The play follows Lyndon B. Johnson through his political career that essentially defined the most important events in history. Buy tickets here.

If you're up for an opera- go to the Metropolitan Opera this Thursday- Oct. 31st, to see Tunandot, "two of opera's most thrilling dramatic sopranos- reprise their pierce portrayals oof the title princesses. They will sing in Italian and have subtitles inclusive to all. More information and tickets here.

At the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts- the Paul Taylor American Modern Dance will be performed on Friday at 7:30 p.m.- the Paul Taylor Dance Company puts on a tribute to its late Founder. Tickets can be found here.

Other venues in the Upper West Side which gained mass praise are Symphony Space- a theatre and concert hall, a place to come to see innovative, new works; Juilliard School- a prestige College Arts Building that puts on wonderful performances on numerous vices.

Many bars and restaurants, that play live music along with a good amosphere and delicious entrees are a dime-a-dozen in NYC, but check out these places before or after you see an event:

Prohibition- a lounge with live music. Located on 503 Columbus Ave.

Smoke Jazz & Supper Club- live music and cozy atmosphere. Located on 2751 Broadway.
