Cat Stuck In Tree For 5 Days Falls, Sprints Off On UWS: Reports

A cat became stuck in a tree for five days before falling and then sprinting off into the city, according to reports.

UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — A cat scampered up a tree and became stuck for five days until it fell while emergency responders tried to rescue the animal, according to reports.

The cat had reportedly been chased up a tree by a dog several days ago, reports said.

But when the feline fell some five days later, the black-and-white cat sprinted off on the Upper West Side, the New York Post and West Side Rag reported.

A video from the Post shows the cat — nicknamed "Tarzan" — falling from a tree while officials used a cherry picker to try to rescue the cat on West 89th Street between Columbus and Amsterdam avenues.

Onlookers gasped and screamed when the cat fell and ran off, according to the video.

NYPD officers tried to remove the cat, but gave up Sunday morning, according to the Post.

A local 8-year-old with her parents tried calling 911, but was deferred to 311, according to a Facebook post from Susan Cabrera detailing the saga to find a rescuer.

The cat is reportedly still lost in the leafy streets of the Upper West Side.
