Coronavirus Cases Continue Downward Trend On Upper West Side

UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — As the vaccination rate in the Upper West Side continues to go up, the number of people testing positive for the coronavirus in the three ZIP codes that make up the neighborhood is still steadily declining.

According to the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, the COVID-19 positivity rate average for the Upper West Side has remained well below 1 percent.

The average COVID-19 rate for the week of May 18-May 24 for the UWS' 10025, 10024 and 10023 ZIP codes was 0.28 percent.

Fifty-nine people in Manhattan tested positive for the virus Monday. While that's four more cases than the previous day, the curve continues to flatten. The latest seven-day average for hospitalizations stood at five, and there were zero new deaths.

The COVID-19 vaccine remains available to all New York residents 12 and older.

As of Friday, about 60 percent of Upper West Side residents are fully vaccinated. About a month ago, that number stood at 51 percent.

• 0.29 percent COVID-19 rate, 863 people tested, 11 new cases
• 65 percent of residents have gotten the first dose, 57 percent are fully vaccinated

10024

• 0.29 percent COVID-19 rate, 671 people tested, 6 new cases
• 70 percent of residents have gotten the first dose, 62 percent are fully vaccinated

10023

• 0.25 percent COVID-19 rate, 583 people tested, 5 new cases
• 72 percent of residents have gotten the first dose, 64 percent are fully vaccinated
