Flying Tiger Variety Store Closing UWS Shop, All U.S. Locations

The Danish home goods and toy store Flying Tiger Copenhagen is closing all U.S. locations, including one on the Upper West Side.

UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — The Danish home goods and toy store Flying Tiger Copenhagen is closing all of its U.S. locations, including a shop on the Upper West Side, the company announced this week.

The shop is located at 424 Columbus Avenue, near West 81st Street, and promotes tasteful but affordable home decor, with most products designed in-house.

Flying Tiger operates more than 950 locations in 29 countries, including shops in New York, New Jersey, and Massachusetts.

The company said in a Facebook post Wednesday that the pandemic had been "a bigger struggle for us than we could have ever imagined," forcing it to close all of its U.S. stores.

Staff at the Upper West Side location did not immediately respond to a call on Thursday, but the Upper East Side store told Patch that the store would close sometime in the end of November or in early December.

The employee also said the store will offer sales through next week, and customers are urged to redeem gift cards before Nov. 2o.
