Group Of Men Rapes 19-Year-Old In Central Park, Police Say

The 19-year-old told NYPD they were walking in The Ramble when five men attacked them.

CENTRAL PARK, NY — A 19-year-old was attacked and raped by a group of men as they walked through Central Park early Wednesday, police said.

The teenager had been in The Ramble area of the park, near West 77th Street, about 1 a.m. They had walked past a group of five men who started following, according to the NYPD.

The 19-year-old told police that the group then attacked and raped them.

The NYPD did not specify the gender of the teenager to Patch, but police sources told the New York Post that the 19-year-old may have been transgender.

The attackers ran off and the teenager was taken to a hospital in stable condition, according to police.

Nobody had been arrested as of 7 p.m. Wednesday.
