Group Steals Man's Wallet on 1 Train, Rings Up $800 Bill at Diesel

First thing you do after you steal someone's wallet? Buy some new jeans, of course.

UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — One robbery suspect on the Upper West Side really had a hankering for some designer jeans.

The NYPD says it is looking for a man, or multiple men, who stole a passenger's wallet on a northbound 1 train on Aug. 3. At about 5:10 p.m., the victim noticed his wallet had been stolen as the train pulled into the 79th Street station, according to police.

The victim was then informed by his bank that someone had charged $800 at a Diesel store in Columbus Circle on one of his stolen credit cards less than an hour after he noticed his wallet missing, police said.

The NYPD is looking for three men in connection with the suspected grand larceny, all caught on security footage at the Diesel store in Midtown.

The first man is described by police as either white or Hispanic and last seen wearing a blue shirt, black shorts and black shoes. The second suspect is also either white or Hispanic and was last seen wearing a white T-shirt, blue jeans and a black baseball hat. The final suspect is white or Hispanic, wearing a gray shirt, black shorts, black baseball hat and a black backpack.
