How to make Green Smoothies

Green smoothies that the whole family can enjoy

So, we can all agree that vegetables are good for you right? Especially the green, leafy kind which contain all the fiber, vitamins and minerals that help your body fight heart disease, diabetes and generally make you feel amazing. Unfortunately, the sad truth is that most people are simply are not getting vegetables they need every day. We do live in the busiest city in the USA, but that doesn't mean that you have to neglect your body.

I've been making smoothies for 10+ years both personally and professionally and over that time I have learned a few things about green smoothies that you might love! (Note here: I prefer smoothies to juices because you do not skip the fiber which is important as you incorporate sugar).

2. Kale (rich and nutty)

3. Collards (hella green, earthy)

Mix and match to try all sort of new combinations.

Here is a recipe you might love:

Mother Earth Green Smoothie

2 cups of water

2 ripe bananas (frozen or fresh, I love using frozen fruit, that means I don't have to dilute with ice cubes!)

1 cup mango (frozen or fresh)

1 palm-full of cilantro

2 or 3 handfuls of kale

1 green bell pepper

Blend until smooth, the addition of the bellpepper and cilantro might seem crazy, but it really helps to mellow the flavor and is balanced by the sweetness of the banans and mango.
