Man Killed Jumping in Front of 1 Train at 72nd Street Station
Police say the man jumped in front of a 1 train entering the station a little before 7 a.m. on Thursday.
UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — A man was killed jumping in front of a 1 train at the 72nd Street station on Wednesday morning, police said.
According to police, the motorman of the train saw the person jump off the northbound platform in front of the train as it was entering the station at 6:41 a.m. The man was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the FDNY.
No criminality is suspected, police said.

Train service was briefly disrupted on the 1, 2, 3 and 5 trains during the early morning commute with 1 trains running express from 34th Street to 96th Street, and some 2 trains running on the 5 line to 149th Street. Service resumed to normal at about 8:30 a.m. with some residual delays, according to the MTA.
The name and age of the person killed have not been released, police said.
