MTA Reopens Underground Market Near Columbus Circle
The Turnstyle Underground Market on the Upper West Side is reopening after an eight-month closure.
UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — In a step back towards normalcy, the Metropolitan Transportation Authority is reopening its Turnstyle Underground Market inside the West 59th Street-Columbus Circle station area.
The market was closed down at the start of the coronavirus pandemic in March.
A ceremony and news conference for the reopening will kick off at noon, with Janno Liber, the president of MTA construction & development, Susan Fine, the developer of the Turnstyle Underground Market, and multiple business owners.

The market itself is located beneath 8th Avenue, between 57th and 58 Streets. There are seven-street level entrances to the market, and you don't need a MetroCard to enter.
The Turnstyle Underground Market features an impressive 39 eateries, shops, and pop-ups, 19 food vendors, 10 retail stores, and 10 kiosks, according to its website. Some of the eateries and shops include Dylan's Candy Bar, Lush, Panda Bubble Tea, Black Iron Burger, and more.
