New Holiday Installation Lights Up The Upper West Side
The Lincoln Square Business Improvement District unveiled a new holiday lighting installation on Tuesday that stretches across the UWS.

UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — Holiday lights have arrived in Lincoln Square.
With the festive season upon us, the Lincoln Square Business Improvement District (BID) announced Tuesday the installation of a new, choreographed lighting display that illuminates Broadway from Columbus Circle to West 70th Street.
The lighting display is called "Tumbling Brights." It is a procession of ten lighted spirit figures placed throughout a stretch of the Upper West Side.

The figures summersault their way throughout the neighborhood, lighting up different neighborhood pockets that are typically dark. The installation culminates in Dante Park across from Lincoln Center at the statue of Dante Alighieri.
The lighting installation will be on display through Feb. 28, 2021.

"The holidays for the Lincoln Square neighborhood this year are about hope, hope for a healthy holiday season and hope for a better tomorrow," said Monica Blum, President of the Lincoln Square BID, in a news release. "We hope this new, unique lighting display will lift the spirits of residents and visitors to our neighborhood and serve as a source of strength and inspiration to help us all through these challenging times."
The installation was designed by the New York-based lighting firm Linnaea Tillett Lighting Design Associates with Seth Tillett. The brother and sister team credit the Lincoln Square neighborhood itself as the inspiration for the spirited design.
The New York City Department of Parks and Recreation and the New York City Department of Transportation also played a part in making the lighting installation possible.
