Popular Kosher Barbecue Smokehouse Opening On The UWS: Report

Izzy's BBQ Smokehouse will open a location on the Upper West Side, according to YeahThatsKosher.com.

UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — Barbecue lovers rejoice. A popular kosher smokehouse is opening a location on the Upper West Side, according to the website YeahThatsKosher.

Izzy's BBQ Smokehouse will open at 660 Amsterdam Avenue, between 92nd and 93rd Streets, according to the report. The last business to occupy the building was Numero 28 Pizzeria.

While there is no specific date for the opening, Izzy's is set to open sometime in the next two months, according to YeahThatsKosher.com.

The Crown Heights-based restaurant will be offering "their own unique items, including a deli focus," and a commitment to traditional deli foods that the owner "believes has been largely abandoned in the city," said YeahThatsKosher.com

"Izzy's is an award-winning smokehouse in the Crown Heights neighborhood of Brooklyn. Pit-master Izzy Edelman brings a local twist to a Southern tradition, combining simple ingredients with quality meats to create a unique and laid-back dining experience for the BBQ lover," reads the website.

Izzy's menu included pulled beef sandwiches, chopped brisket sandwiches, loaded chili sausage, ribs, and an assortment of finger-licking sides.

Izzy's BBQ Smokehouse will join various kosher restaurants already on the Upper West Side, including Mexikosher NYC, Kasbah Grill, Graze Smokehouse, and Holy Schnitzel.
