Popular Upper West Side Cafe Closing Down After 5 Years

UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — A popular Upper West Side cafe is closing down after more than five years of service in the neighborhood.
Earth Cafe, on the corner of West 97th and Broadway, confirmed to Patch Tuesday that it is permanently shuttering. The Upper West Side cafe didn't specify its reasoning for closing.
The cafe served up different kinds of coffees, baked goods, salads, paninis, avocado toast, and other French styled food.

On March 16, Earth Cafe posted a message to its Facebook page about temporarily closing its doors due to the coronavirus pandemic. It also appears to have started a GoFundMe to support the cafe on March 18, but the fundraiser page no longer exists.
Nearly a month later, Earth Cafe again posted on its Facebook page informing the community that it was reopening for delivery and takeout for coffees and pastries.

"Our top priority remains the health and well being of our staff and our customers. For more than 5 years, you have supported us, your neighborhood cafe," Earth Cafe wrote on its Facebook. "Our goal now is to slowly rebuild to where we were not long ago."
The Upper West Side cafe hasn't posted on its Facebook page since July 4.
