Popular UWS Restaurant Opens New Chicken Eatery In Neighborhood

The Mermaid Inn recently opened a new outpost on the Upper West Side that will be exclusively take-out and delivery.

UPPER WEST SIDE, NY —Fans of Mermaid Inn on the Upper West Side just got some good news, as the team behind the popular seafood restaurant recently opened a new eatery in the neighborhood.

Mermaid Bird opened this week at 568 Amsterdam Avenue, near 88th Street, for take-out and delivery only.

The space is usually home to Pizzeria Sirenetta, but the pizzeria is currently closed because of coronavirus related issues. Mermaid Bird will operate at the 568 Amsterdam space until Pizzeria Sirenetta reopens, and then it is unclear where the new restaurant will take its kitchen.

The new eatery's menu is focused around chicken and will exclusively offer pick-up and delivery options.

Corporate Chef Michael Cressotti developed a comfort food styled menu, with chicken wings and tenders ranging from an option of four to 50. Or a variety of fried chicken sandwiches with different types of sauces and toppings.

Mermaid Bird is open from 4:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. during the workweek and then from noon to 9 p.m. on the weekends.
