Evicted UWS Tent Dweller Was Connected To Teen's Death: Report
Amber Wilson, who lived in a tent on Broadway, is facing charges related to the death of a teenager in March, according to the NY Post.
UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — In the fallout of a New York Post story about two people experiencing homelessness living in a tent on the Upper West Side, the makeshift camp has been removed by police and one of the tent's occupants faces felony charges connected to the killing of a teenager in March — a fact that neither the Post nor area residents seemed to be aware of when the article was published.
Amber Wilson and Devonte Rose took up residence inside a tent on top of a subway grate at the intersection of 86th and Broadway — telling the NY Post "people here love us."
However, multiple Upper West Siders commented to the Post about their anger over the police not doing anything about the tent.

The day after the Post article ran on Wednesday, NYPD officers arrived at the Upper West Side intersection and dismantled and removed the tent. The NYPD referred Patch to the Department of Homeless Services (DHS) for the reasoning behind the tent's removal.
"In our City, we don’t allow obstructions of public places or encampments and anytime the City encounters, learns of, or receives a report about a condition on the street that needs to be addressed, the City addresses it as quickly as possible, with multiple City Agencies responding as appropriate," a DHS spokesperson told Patch.

The tent saga is not the first time that Wilson has had her name in the papers.
In March, the 35-year-old was charged with tampering with physical evidence in connection to the killing of a teenager in Lower Manhattan.
Wilson's charges specifically relate to concealing the corpse of 19-year-old Rosalee Sanchez, whose body was found wrapped in plastic in the abandoned Fulton Fish Market on March 6, according to the NY Post.
Two other people were charged in connection to Sanchez's death. The trio admitted to the crime, police told the NY Post.
Wilson is due back in court on May 10.
