These UWS Intersections Will Be Under Construction This Week

UPPER WEST SIDE, MANHATTAN — Residents living near six intersections in the Upper West Side will likely hear construction each day this week as the city renovates pedestrian walkways in Upper Manhattan.

The city's Department of Design and Construction announced late last week that it would be doing work on a few dozen pedestrian ramps in the northern half of the borough during the daytime Monday through Friday of this week, according to a construction schedule shared by Community Board 12.

The construction will be to rehabilitate pedestrian ramps, which are the slanted panels placed along street corners so that sidewalks are accessible to and from the street.

About five of the intersections where the department will be renovating the ramps fall in the Upper West Side.

Officials said that construction will last from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. and could restrict parking at the intersections. Residents should look for signs to see specific parking rules.

The rest of the intersections in the project fall north of the Upper West Side in Washington Heights and Harlem.
