Upper West Side Has 3 Of The Best Eateries For Christmas Day

Three restaurants on the Upper West Side were featured on Eater NY's list of best eateries to visit for a Christmas Day meal.

UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — Christmas is just around the corner, and the holiday in 2020 won't look like most years.

There are families canceling plans, younger generations repeating instructions to grandparents for setting up Zoom calls, and many more people planning to eat alone or in smaller groups this Christmas.

With the fewer number of people gathering together with loved ones, more New Yorkers will count on local restaurants to supply their Christmas meal.

Eater NY is doing its part to help NYC residents both celebrating and not celebrating the holiday pick the right restaurant for Christmas Day. Eater is a popular food website that provides a wide array of news and reviews for New York City restaurants.

The website recently unveiled its "Where to Eat on Christmas Day in NYC" list.

"If you haven't decked out your home with a tree, wreaths, and lights, chances are ordering takeout or delivery from a city restaurant might feel more celebratory," Eater wrote in the article for the list.

Three restaurants on the Upper West Side made the list.

The Consulate: 519 Columbus Avenue

With tree and ornament decorations already set up at the popular Upper West Side restaurant, the eatery has plans to be open for outdoor dining on Christmas Day. Details about the special holiday menu are not yet out, but last year's dishes included a balsamic-glazed roast quail and pistachio-crusted rack of lamb.

Jing Fong: 380 Amsterdam Avenue

There are not many better combinations than Christmas Day and Chinese food, and Jing Fong serves up some of the best Dim Sum on the Upper West Side. Restaurant favorites like chicken feet and rice noodles will be available for takeout on Christmas.

Kissaki Sushi: 286 Columbus Avenue

Kissaki's location on the Upper West Side is relatively new, but Christmas might be the perfect time to try out the new sushi joint. You can pick from hand rolls, donburi rice bowls, and several omakase sets from the restaurant.
