Upper West Side Water Main Break Causes Major Train Delays
The 1, 2, and 3 train lines are still running with delays after an UWS water main break caused issues Tuesday starting around 5:30 a.m.
UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — A water main break on the Upper West Side Tuesday morning caused extensive delays for subways in the neighborhood.
The main rupture happened around 5:30 a.m. between 96th and 103rd Streets, according to the MTA.

The water main break caused extensive delays to 1, 2, and 3 train service while an emergency team responded to the issue.

Specifically, 2 trains ran on the 5 line between 149th Street and Nevins Street, 1 trains ran exclusively between 137th Street and Van Cortlandt Park, and all 3 train service was halted.
The three trains resumed normal stops in both directions around 9 a.m., but the MTA said to expect major delays in both directions still.

WCBS Radio also reported that water service has been shut off to customers living around 103rd Street between Broadway and West End.
