UWS Water Main Break: Subway Service Resumes After Morning Delay

Trains on the Upper West Side are returning to normal service after a water main break caused major delays and suspensions Sunday morning.

UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — Train service has returned to normal after a water main break on the Upper West Side of Manhattan Sunday morning disrupted subways and delayed traffic for the second time this week.

The water main break happened at 103rd Street and Central Park West around 7:30 a.m., according to the MTA.

The Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) arrived at the scene to shut off the water, but enough water had already poured into the 103rd Street Station that the MTA declared it too unsafe for trains to pass through.
