Who Profits From Upper West Side's Barnard College?--Part 6

Is Barnard trustees board chair's husband Ogden CAP Properties real estate firm "principal," Marcus Corp. director and ex-Columbia trustee?

Besides including the wife of Loews Corporation President and CEO Tisch on its board of trustees, in recent years the chair of “non-profit” Barnard College’s board of trustees has been Cheryl Glicker Milstein—whose husband, former Columbia University Trustee Philip Milstein, besides being “principal of Ogden CAP Properties, LLC (real estate and investments) and former co-chairman of Emigrant Savings Bank (savings bank),” according to the Marcus Corporation website, has also been a member of the for-profit Marcus Corporation board of directors since 1996.

Among the residential properties owned by the for-profit Ogden CAP Properties LLC real estate firm ( that the husband of Barnard’s board of trustees chair is the principal of) are: the One Lincoln Plaza luxury apartments at 20 W. 64th St. and the Dorchester Towers luxury apartments at 155 W. 68th St. on the Upper West Side; the Windsor Court luxury apartments at 155 E. 31st St.; the Normandie Court luxury apartments at 225 E. 95th St. and the Biltmore Plaza luxury apartments at 155 E. 29th St.. In addition, Ogden Cap Properties LLC owns the 1900 Broadway commercial office building on the Upper West Side.

And the for-profit Marcus Corporation (on whose corporate the husband of Barnard’s board of trustees chair sits) owned “89 movie theatres with 1,097 screens throughout 17 states,” making it “the 4th largest theatre circuit in the United States,” on Dec. 31, 2020, according to its annual report. In addition, as of Dec. 31, 2020, the Marcus Corporation owned or managed 18 hotels and resorts in the USA, which together contained approximately 5,100 hotel and resort rooms.

Coincidentally, a tax-deductible contribution of $25 million was given in 2016 to Barnard College by Barnard College Board of Trustees Chair Glicker Milstein and her husband to help fund a construction project on the “non-profit” Upper West Side private college’s campus, according to a Jan. 28, 2016 Wall Street Journal article.
