INWOOD, NY — Motorcycles thundered past a 76-year-old man who had enough walking out of Inwood Hill Park on Sunday near 207th Street. He shook a stick at what has become a growing neighborhood issue, but his act of frustration didn't go unnoticed — the motorcyclists turned around and drove back to brutalize the senior, according to a widely read account on social media.

At first, the two bikers drove past the senior, but the pair quickly turned back around and approached the man, identified as Roberto, according to a retelling of events from his neighbor, Leo Guardado — who shared the story Monday morning on an Inwood community Facebook group.

Guardado only identified the man by his first name and is trying to draw attention to the incident.

A police spokesperson told Patch that the two unidentified men got in a yelling match with Roberto about the use of motorcycles in the park and it ended with the duo hitting the 76-year-old with an unknown object.

The two men fled the scene on their bikes and Roberto was taken to New York-Presbyterian Allen Hospital to treat his injuries, according to police.

Police described the injuries as minor, but Guardado said that Roberto was left with a dislocated shoulder, a fracture, and bruises and scrapes to his arms and legs.

Guardado said that Roberto hopes the community can keep motorcycles out of the Inwood Hill Park and forest area.

The use of motorcycles, ATVs, and dirt bikes is becoming an increasingly hot button topic in Upper Manhattan as community members grow more concerned with the uptick in dangerous driving.

Recently an Upper Manhattan task force released multiple recommendations on ways to crack down on the different vehicles, and Manhattan Borough President Gale Brewer penned a letter to Mayor Bill de Blasio and Police Commissioner Dermot Shea demanding that they do something to "combat the illegal operation of motorized bikes and street racing."

There are no arrests in the attack on Roberto and the investigation remains ongoing.
