WASHINGTON HEIGHTS, NY — The popular Peruvian and Chinese fusion restaurant Flor De Mayo is opening soon in Washington Heights.

The restaurant's third outpost is opening at 4160 Broadway, between West 176th and 177th streets, and is currently hiring staff.

"As one of the few remaining Chino-Latino restaurants in NYC, Flor de Mayo provides selections crafted by our chef's skillful touch, seasoned with unique herbs and spices from both cultures," the restaurant writes on its website. "Accompany our flavorful dishes with fascinating signature cocktails from our fully-stocked bar and enjoy our sophisticated service and cozy atmosphere."

The restaurant's cocktail options might actually be even better known than its cuisine.

Flor De Mayo is especially famous for being the venue where the "Nut Cracker" cocktail was born in the early nineties.

It's a combination of Bacardi 151, Southern Comfort, Amaretto, pineapple juice, grenadine, and Rose's Sour Lime that city dwellers have called the best summer cocktail money can buy over the past 25 years.

Members of Upper Manhattan Facebook pages were excited to see that Flor De Mayo was opening in the Heights.

"So happy to see this restaurant opening in the area," wrote the Upper Manhattan resident who initially posted about the opening. "Hopefully the food will be as awesome as the one on 101 street & Broadway. Their Peruvian chicken is to die for!!!"

"They’re sooo good," another person wrote. "Happy I won’t have to travel too far to eat there anymore."
