9 Inwood, Wash Heights Schools Closed By Coronavirus Cases

Nine schools in Upper Manhattan were among the more than 280 buildings closed across the city Wednesday due to confirmed COVID-19 cases.

UPPER MANHATTAN, NY — Coronavirus cases have temporarily closed down nine schools in Inwood and Washington Heights, according to the Department of Education.

The school closures in the neighborhood come as COVID-19 rates across the city continue to tick up.

According to the Department of Education's guidelines, school buildings must automatically close pending an investigation when at least two COVID-19 cases linked to each other are confirmed in separate classrooms. The closure is extended when the infections occurred outside of school or a link between them cannot be determined.
