Andrew Yang's Wash Heights Meal Opens A Burrito Bowl Controversy
An unexpectedly passionate debate was sparked Thursday after Andrew Yang posted a photo of a "Salmon burrito bowl" to his Twitter account.

WASHINGTON HEIGHTS, NY — Mayoral candidate Andrew Yang posted a picture Thursday to his Twitter account of a meal he ordered from a Washington Heights restaurant. The seemingly innocent picture has spawned a passionate range of responses in reaction to Yang's classification of the dish as a "Salmon burrito bowl."
At 6:12 p.m. Thursday, Yang posted a picture of the meal he ordered from Terravita NYC, which is located at 4193 Broadway — near West 178th Street.

Yang did a walking tour of Washington Heights on Thursday and clearly decided to show some appreciation for the neighborhood restaurant.

"Had a wonderful walking tour of a Washington Heights today with Isidro Medina — the local businesses here could use more support," Yang tweeted earlier Thursday. "Also — better trash pickup."
The Twitter reactions to Yang's classification of the meal as a "Salmon burrito bowl" were strong in their disagreement of the designation.

"It's quinoa and salmon. Where's the burrito in any of this. Please stop running for mayor," one Twitter user replied.
"Dude. That's a pearled couscous salad with salmon. 'Burrito bowl,' come on," another person replied.
"This is the farthest thing from a burrito bowl, sir," someone else replied.
The post has comment after comment disparaging Yang for calling the meal a Salmon burrito bowl.
However, as pointed out by a smaller group of repliers on the Tweet, a quick trip to Terravita's website shows that the menu calls the exact dish a "Burrito Bowl."
It comes with white organic quinoa, red peppers, sweet corn, black beans, red onions, cilantro, and lemon pepper vinaigrette. However, it does look like Yang added the Salmon element of the meal.
"That's what it was called on the menu. I'm so confused by so many people hating on Yang for the most random s***," one Twitter user wrote on the post. "Maybe we really don't deserve nice things."
Salmon burrito bowl controversy or not, it is nice to see prominent NYC politicians show some love to Upper Manhattan restaurants.
