Authentic Mexican Restaurant Opens Its Doors In Inwood
"I feel like I couldn't serve any other neighborhood than Inwood since they've supported us so much," the owner of Serrano Salsa said.
INWOOD, NY — A new Mexican restaurant opened its doors in Inwood on Friday.
Serrano Salsa, located at 4979 Broadway near the edge of Isham Park, is bringing authentic Mexican food to the Upper Manhattan neighborhood.
Christina, who owns the new eatery, says the Mexican food is about going back to her roots.

"I come back to my roots for my cooking. I come from Mexico; my mother used to cook home-cooked meals all the time," Christina told Patch. "I want the neighborhood to know that everything I am bringing is authentic, fresh, and full of flavor."
"I just want them to have a full belly and a happy heart," she added.

Christina isn't from Inwood, but the community has been a staple of much of her adult life.
Christina's husband has owned and operated the nearby Grandpa's Brick Oven Pizza for more than a decade, located at 4973 Broadway. Her husband's pizzeria has meant endless hours in the neighborhood, and weekend trips for their kids to nearby Isham Park.
"We love this neighborhood, I feel like I couldn't serve any other neighborhood than Inwood since they've supported us so much," Christina said. "They've always opened their arms to us."
Serrano Salsa does not have its own website yet, but there is a Facebook page for the new Mexican restaurant.
Here is the menu for the eatery.
