Dominican Film Festival Goes Virtual: How To Watch

The festival kicking off on Tuesday will feature more than 70 films over the span of 10 days.

WASHINGTON HEIGHTS, NY — The Dominican Film Festival In York City will conduct its 9th annual edition through virtual programming in 2020.

The film festival is set to kick off on Oct. 20 with the U.S. premiere of "Cabarete," a coming of age film directed by Ivan Bordas. The festival will close Oct. 30 with the world premiere of the social drama "Carta Blanca."

The Dominican Film Festival will include a roster of over 70 movies, ranging from comedy to drama to thriller to romance. The featured films will also pay homage to classic Latino films, and include panel discussions with leaders in the film industry.

Films from over 20 Latino countries will be included within the festival.

"The festival's main objective is to inform New York City's audiences about Dominican cinema and its relation to the history, politics and social life of the country through an aesthetic approach," the Dominican Film Festival says on its website. "The festival's program will showcase an array of works reflecting the city's diverse population, including a large ration of Latinos from 21 countries."
