Elevated Lead Levels Recorded At Inwood School Building
Testing by the city found that multiple water sources in an Inwood public school building had high concentrations of lead.
INWOOD, NY — Elevated lead levels were recorded in multiple water sources at an Inwood school building which houses two schools, according to the Department of Education.
Twelve water samples taken at 4862 Broadway, home to PS 314 Muscota New School and IS 314 Amistad Dual Language School, tested for high concentration of lead, according to the Department of Education's (DOE) water safety website. The elevated lead levels were noticed during routine testing performed in January, according to the department's website.
The rest of the school building's 133 water sources tested for safe levels of lead, according to the DOE website.
