WASHINGTON HEIGHTS, NY — As staggeringly hot weather hits Manhattan, Washington Heights residents may want to make plans to stay cool this week.

The city is under a heat advisory until Tuesday at 8 p.m. as temperatures are expected to feel like 101 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.

In Washington Heights, there are four official cooling centers open this week for residents to escape the heat. Along with the cooling centers, there are community pools, misting stations, and other options.
