Inwood Film Festival Returns For 4th Year In March

This year's festival will showcase 33 films that were either shot in Inwood or created by current and former residents of the neighborhood.

INWOOD, NY — One of Inwood's largest cultural events is set to return to the neighborhood in March.

The three-day Inwood Film Festival will return for its fourth year from March 14 to March 16, organizers announced this month. The festival will showcase 33 films, all of which are either shot on location in Inwood or are created by current or former neighborhood residents.

"The Inwood Film Festival was created to be a homegrown community platform to promote the neighborhood, its residents and its artists," Aaron Simms, Inwood Art Works’ founder and executive producer said in a statement. “Our film submissions and screening attendance continues to grow steadily year after year."

The festival's opening night screening will be the 2018 documentary "Love, Gilda" created by Inwood filmmaker Lisa D’Apolito. The film explores the life and comedy career of "Saturday Night Live" star Gilda Radner and features testimonies from many of Radner's friends, family members and colleagues.

The opening night benefit event will also feature a post-screening interview with WNYC host Brian Lehrer, live stand-up comedy and food and drinks catered by local business Indian Road Café.
